Quinnipiac Law will host a week-long series of free events to raise awareness of human trafficking, preparing members of the University and a broader community to actively help stop the crisis. January is recognized as National Slavery and Human Trafficking Awareness Month.

Tuesday, January 28th @ 12PM in SLE 350 - Documentary Film: "Trafficked in America": The Hidden Reality of Labor Trafficking in the United States
When we think of trafficking in the United States, most of us think of "sex slaves," not labor trafficking. This documentary tells the story of unaccompanied teens from poor Guatemalan families who are enticed to come to the United States, only to be forced to live and work against their will at a Midwest egg farm.

Tuesday, January 28th @ 6PM Ceremonial Courtroom - Panel: Should Prostitution be Legalized? Plus other Debates in the Fight Against Trafficking
Two trafficking experts debate the myths and challenges of the fight against trafficking. This includes the effectiveness of shutting down Backpage, and how the well-intentioned efforts to fight trafficking have backfired, and what we should do instead.

Wednesday, January 29th @ 6PM Ceremonial Courtroom - Perspectives from a Male Survivor of Sex Trafficking
Sex trafficking affects not only women and girls, but also men and boys, as well as trans individuals. a male survivor will discuss his experiences - how he got drawn into "the life," his experiences as a victim, and how he managed to escape and rebuild his life.

Thursday, January 30th @ 6PM Ceremonial Courtroom - Human Trafficking Prevention Project (HTPP): "What You Should Know"
Quinnipiac Law HTPP has trained hotel workers, teachers, medical professionals, and public defenders. Please join us for a general training by HTPP members that will: define sex versus labor trafficking; describe who are the victims, the traffickers, and the buyers; explain how traffickers target and lure their victims, including online recruitment; and identify the signs of trafficking and how to respond.
